On my 21st birthday, after I got out of my last class for the day and completed all of my studying, I was in need of a stiff drink and a lively yet laid-back environment. Thus, I began to call a number of friends and ask them about local bars in Denton, TX. By the time I’d called six of my friends and had been thoroughly disappointed by their answers, I was about ready to give up on my search for a bar and simply go to one of the run-down shacks that I’d attended in the past. I thought about my problem long and hard. Finally, I decided to make one last call. I dreaded calling my ex-boyfriend Abiyan because I knew that he would start his usual rant concerning us patching things up and getting back together. Unfortunately, Abiyan was my last hope. I figured that he might know a cool bar in the area and as I have already stated, I desperately needed to get out of my dorm room. Surprisingly, calling Abiyan was one of the best decisions I’d made all day. Abiyan directed me to a bar in Lewisville, TX, right down the street from my university. The bar was called: Sneaky Petes. The name, Sneaky Petes, was definitely suited for the bar. For, it was a sneaky little tavern, ducked off on the back roads and indiscernible from the highway. Now, imagine my surprise when I walked into the large room that was decorated in eighty’s memorabilia and discovered that not only did it offer cheap drinks on these wacky rubber placemats, it had a beautiful patio with a lakeside view. Wow! I was truly in the right place! I ordered a delicious plate of cheese fries, equipped with mounds of different cheeses, bacon, chives and sour cream. Then, I ordered two shots of Goldschläger cinnamon schnapps and headed outside to the patio. I sipped my drinks and watched the boaters sail across the lake. There was popular alternative music blaring over the speakers and I could not help but feel excited and relaxed all at the same time. I had such a wonderful night that I vowed to return to Sneaky Petes again before the week was up. Needless to say, Sneaky Petes has become my favorite hang-out spot and I can never thank Abiyan enough for helping me discover it!

As a parent, you want to make sure that your children eat well. I am one such parent. With all the sweet and fatty stuff you find in any supermarket shelves, is it a wonder that the average kid takes in so much unwanted and unhealthy food nowadays?

That is why I always ask for ideas on healthy foods. The problem is, my children somehow seem to know when the food offered to them is healthy. They are the walking and living health barometers, so to speak. If the food is healthy, they will decline.
