Just one look will tell you that the Sigma 50mm is a lens that is serious about what it does. Sigma went all out in the construction of this lens so not only is it one of the biggest and heaviest 50mm lenses I have ever used but also one of the best. Compared to some other prime lenses that look like little plastic toys the Sigma is an absolute behemoth. While complaints about the size are something you will read in every review about this lens it is only half the tale. For the rest this is a superlative lens that is a pleasure to use and produces photos that will make you the envy of other photographers. Depending on your camera body, it can feel a bit front heavy but if you stick with it you won’t notice it as much. I did a wedding shoot with it and it was not too uncomfortable but if you are used to using light lenses it can be an issue.

On a recent holiday in Sydney, Australia my wife and I decided to do something we have always wanted to do. Climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge! I can honestly say and I say this with pride that I am the only photographer out of all the Charleston wedding photographers that does not charge extra for creating a customized wedding album. I have seen a lot of photographers that charge an arm and a leg for a wedding album. Then the quality is not even as good as it could be. I was shocked the other day when a couple came to me to do a wedding album for them as they were not happy with the one their photographer did for them. I am not here to bad mouth, but this photographer really did a lousy job. He just printed photos and stuck them in a cheap wedding album. Another one is that this is a DX camera lens. Most people said that you cannot use it with a full frame camera. However, I found that it could be used on an FX (Full frame) camera at 15mm focal length or above without a problem.
