Viennie V’s Much Anticipated “For You” Video is Almost Here!

So if you’ve been keeping tabs on pop singer Viennie V, you would know that she’s been working on an “All Night Long” music video in addition to a For You music video. Viennie’s previous videos are insightful parodies based on popular culture- “Nightmare or Dream” being a parody on Twilight and “Thinking of You” being a loose parody of “…Baby One More Time” and stereotypical high school life.
A behind-the-scenes video for “For You” was just recently uploaded on YouTube. It offers a clue to what Viennie’s next music video will be about. I’m like 90% sure that her next video will be parodying dating show games. There’s a couple scenes where there’s three male contestants and a sign that says “Future Love.” One of the dates involves a classy dining scene and another involves a date on a rooftop. There’s another guy who looks super macho, but there were no behind-the-scenes clips involving him besides the dating show stage ones. This makes me think that his scene with Viennie, their date, must be a pretty funny one… I guess we’ll all just have to wait to find out!
Brazilian jazz guitar player Oscar Castro-Neves grew up in a musical enviroment. He expressed an interest in wanting to learn to play jazz guitar and studied both the guitar and the piano from the age of seven. At the age of twelve he became interested in jazz harmonies through the influence of an uncle. By the time he was in his mid teens Neves was already playing professionally in a group with his brothers. They played in local clubs and also appeared on radio and television programs. By the time he was seventeen Neves had become a full time professional musician. He not only played the guitar and the piano, but was composing and arranging for studios in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In 1962 bossa nova guitar music exploded onto the world music scene. It became the rage in the USA and many aspiring guitar players now wanted to learn jazz guitar. Castro-Neves and his quartet were invited to play in November 1962 in an “All Star Bossa Nova” concert at Carnegie Hall in New York. He shared the bill with Antonio Carlos Jobim. Luiz Bonfa, Stan Getz, Sergio Mendes and many more of the biggest names in bossa nova. After this concert the Oscar Castro-Neves quartet toured to selected major USA cities in the company of the Laurindo Almeida Quartet, the Lalo Schifrin Trio, the Stan Getz Quartet and the Dizzy Gillespie Quintet.
In 1963 Castro-Neves returned to Brazil to resume a busy life as a musical director, arranger and producer. In 1967 he returned to the USA as the musical director of the vocal quartet, “The Girls From Bahia”. The following year he decided to settle in Los Angeles with his wife Regina. He worked with Quincy Jones and then Sergio Mendes. In 1971 he joined the highly successful Mendes group on a permanent basis until January 1979. He then decided to concentrate on studio work, arranging and teaching. He also started to play in local jazz spots with various groups.
Oscar Castro-Neves continues to live and work in the Los Angeles area. He has taught at the Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT) and at Dick Grove Music Workshops and continues to record both as a leader and as a sideman.
